Michael Nguyen is the Current President/Chair of National Association of Asian Professionals-San Diego. He received his Bachelors Degree at Cal State San Marcos along with University of San Diego, California as well as current Certification with Project Management Institute. Drawing on 8 years of corporate experience with companies such as LPL Financial, AMN Healthcare, Websense Inc, and Sony Electronics along with chartering the Asian Pacific Student Society (Cal State San Marcos), he has experience both in leadership roles as well as vital team-member roles. He considers himself a Servant Leader, in that he chooses to serve those he leads. This style has translated to success as Public Relations Chair of Vietnamese American Youth Alliance, drawing in record crowds of 25,000 attendees to the San Diego Tet Festival 2008 (www.sdtet.com). Appearing on air on most of the major local network news stations (CBS, NBC, and FOX) he has promoted Asian American Culture/Heritage through all outlets. Serving as Volunteer Chair at the Filipino-American Cultural Trade Expo (2007 and 2008) he has experience leading teams of Volunteers.

Justin Feng

Justin Feng is the current Executive Vice President of the San Diego Venture of the National Association of Asian Professionals. He graduated from UCSD with a B.S. in Bionengineering, attended the Drexel University College of Medicine, and is currently enrolled as a Ph.D. student at UCSD. Drawing on his experience as a published writer on government foreign and domestic policy, he has worked on several successful political campaigns in leadership as well as team-member roles. He is currently studying the “bamboo ceiling” and the effective strategies of Asians and Asian Americans who have broken through.

Tina Huynh
Secretary

 
Tina Huynh is the Secretary for NAAAP San Diego. She manages NAAAP San Diego’s meeting minutes, calendaring, document organization, filing, and other operational duties. Her keen attention to detail and meticulous organizational skills make her best fit for the position. Ms. Huynh obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at the University of California San Diego. She began her professional career as a Purchase & Sales Specialist for the leading diversified securities firm, LPL Financial Corporation. She has a vast experience with equity and bond market operations, in addition to compliance with SEC and FINRA regulations. Her post-graduate work includes completion of an ABA-Approved Paralegal Certificate from the University of California
San Diego Extension.

She is currently with the highly-rated securities and business litigation firm, Shustak Frost & Partners, P.C. Ms. Huynh is delighted to share her unique talents, skills, and knowledge with other members of NAAAP as well as other professionals and other organizations to help NAAAP and herself continue to grow and advance.

Paul Lim, CFP® 
Treasurer

Paul Lim, CFP® is the Treasurer for National Association of Asian American Professionals - San Diego. He is responsible for managing the finances of the organization, balancing the budget and making financial projections. He graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and a Minor in Business & Entrepreneurship. He grew up in Providence, RI and lived in Baltimore, MD. Paul moved to San Diego in February 2009. He is currently a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER Professional for MetLife - New England Financial.

Linh Pham
National Representative


Linh Pham is the National Representative  of NAAAP-San Diego and is delighted to share her skills and knowledge as well as learn with the board and members here at the San Diego venture.  Linh is very comfortable working in a team environment and has shown her leadership skills through multiple roles in her work – past and present.  She received her B.S in Business Marketing and B.A. in Communications, with an emphasis in Public Relations.  She is currently with Cogent Road, Inc., a software company for the mortgage industry, in a product management position. 

Linh has many interests that keep her busy.  Her passion is in athletics, health, and nutrition and is working her way towards that path right now.  She hopes to one day combine her business knowledge and passion in health fitness to help others achieve their own goals of improved well-being.  She also volunteers regularly at her church with the Vietnamese Youth Group as a leader and mentor.

Edward Koo
Marketing/Public Relations Chair

Edward attended the University of California, San Diego, (UCSD) where he pursued a major in Joint Mathematics and Economics. His passion for business led to his involvement in establishing a new chapter of Delta Sigma Pi, an international co-ed business fraternity, where he served as an officer for two years. Upon his graduation, Edward was nominated to the National Dean's List.

Since then, Edward has put his analytical mind at work, having spent the last several years as an analyst in the healthcare industry. Edward is currently working as a programmer at UCSD Medical Group where he is responsible for designing and creating reports for over 20 clinical departments for financial business services.

Edward has also completed his Professional Certificate in Accounting at UCSD Extension. He is currently a member of the California Society of CPAs and Asian Healthcare Leaders Association.

Michael Quy Nguyen is the University/College Liaison for the National Association Asian American Professional-San Diego.  He is currently a student at San Diego University, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Throughout his college career, he has been actively involved with various student organizations. He has been a member of the Vietnamese Student Association, Pacific Islander Student Association, Andres Bonifacio Samahan, and the Asian Pacific Student Alliance.  In addition, he held many leadership positions, such as Net Viet Editor (2006–2007), Webmaster (2007–2008), and the Internal Vice President (2008-2009) for Vietnamese Student Association.  He was also the President of Pacific Asian Society of Engineers (2007-2009).  Now he is a student adviser/mentor for the Vietnamese Student Associations and Pacific Asian Society of Engineers at San Diego State University.  Besides being involved in school, he also volunteer in the Vietnamese's community in San Diego. In the future, Michael plans to open his own mechanic shop.

Sally Jia
Health & Wellness Chair


Sally Jia is the Chair of the Health & Wellness Committee. She is in charge of coordinating various health awareness events ranging from nutritional workshops to fitness.  She got her nursing degree in China, later her BSN at Chamberlain College of Nursing in  the USA. She has been working as a register nurse for over ten years in various medical fields. Currently she works at UCSD cardiovascular center. Sally has a wealth of knowledge and experience on health and nutritional issues making her good fit for this position and allowing her to improve the welfare of NAAAP San Diego's members and to the betterment of the San Diego community. On her spare time, she loves to participate in different activities like line dancing, yoga, hiking, tennis etc.

Lawrence Au

Lawrence Au is the Treasurer and Community Relations Chair for the National Association of Asian Americans Professionals-San Diego. He received his Bachelors Degree at San Diego State University in the field of Financial Services with a minor in Chinese Language. He will be attending National University in Spring 2010 for his Masters of Accountancy (MAcc) and is planning to obtain his CPA (Certified Public Accountant) thereafter.

Drawing on 4 years of fulfilling multiple leadership roles in organizations at San Diego State University and in the community, he understands and embodies the meaning of loyalty, commitment, being the compassionate moral supporter, and go beyond the call of duty in times of great need. Lawrence Au is very skilled in record-keeping and maintaining the history of the accomplishments and achievements of various student organizations, he served. Through these experiences, he has developed a relationship with several community organizations and with these skills and knowledge, Lawrence is experienced in understanding the minds and needs of the community he will serve and is looking forward in forming strong relations with community partners in creating a better San Diego.
He also has experience in the use of various technologies ranging from building websites to utilizing equipment, giving him the cutting edge in accomplishing various tasks for any organization he serves.

In addition, he has also served various positions in the Asian and Pacific Islander Community from Volunteer Team Leader of the Vietnamese American Youth Alliance in leading younger, would-be-potential leaders in taking on necessary tasks to maintain the overall success of the San Diego Tet Festival in 2008 (www.sdtet.com) to Entertainment Co-Chair and Volunteer Coordinator for Taste of Asia 2009 (www.tasteofasiasd.com), a multi-Asian charity event with proceeds going to Lotus Outreach (
www.lotusoutreach.org) and International Humanity Foundation (www.ihfonline.org)
